Davis Nail Colors:Reviews and Swatches

Hi all,

Remember the nailpaints I showed you in my haul post HERE???

Well, today I will be reviewing the Davis Nail Colors. I had bought four of them from Snapdeal.com. They have many colours to choose from, but since they were a new brand of nailpaints, I decided to buy only four shades.

Quantity: 10ml, according to the bottle, but I doubt it.
Price: Rs.35/- :D

The Bottle: these come in tiny bottles, with a rather unnecessary huge cap, with this sticker of a girl on it. It’s kinda ugly and cheap-looking.
The Brush: is super tiny; and a little difficult to work with.

Now, coming onto the individual colours:-

1)      LAVENDER BLUSH: It is a pretty dark mauve shade. It looks good on all skin tones. Needs 2 coats for full opacity. A little thick in consistency. It looks a little darker in the shade, but comes out beautiful in the sun.
It took ages to dry, and as you can see, I have already smudged the paint on my index and middle fingers, even after waiting for ten minutes. :(

2)      STARLET: It is my favourite of the lot. An excellent choice for daily wear. It is a beautiful shade of pink, which will look lovely on fair and medium skintones. It needs 3 coats. Consistency is a little thin.
This takes ages to dry as well. :(

under room light

3)      HAPPY HOUR: a myriad of tiny muti-coloured glitters in a clear base. The glitters reflect all the colours in the rainbow. The consistency was good. This was the only one which dried properly in ten minutes. One coat is enough to slather a good amount of glitter. In the following pictures, I have used 2 coats though, over Starlet.

in room light

4)      VALLEY FLOWER: Silver glitters in a navy blue-purplish base. It requires 2-3 coats for full coverage. This dries up fast as well. This is certainly not an everyday kind-of nailpaint, but great for evening out at clubs or discotheques :P Also, like most glitter paints, the glitter from this is a little difficult to remove.

Final Word:
-> Should you buy these nailpaints? Not, really.
-> Will I buy these nailpaints? NO!
-> One reason that might make you really want to try out a shade? The price. If you really like a shade or two, go ahead and get them.

Here are the swatches on white paper for you to understand the shades better :)

You can buy these nailpaints from HERE.

The Body Shop Shower Gel: Olive and Sweet Lemon

Hey everyone….wishing you a happy Sunday ahead.

For me, Sundays mean sleeping till 10am, taking a looong shower, lazing around on my bean bag with a book, watching a movie on my laptop, listening to music and well…catching up on a little blogging :D

Today I will be reviewing my favourite brand of shower gels- The Body Shop Shower Gels.

Most of you must have used these already, they are a rage all over the world. My favourite from this range is the Sweet Lemon one. Actually, I am really fond of all things lemon-y, and this shower gel is just an extension of that fondness. :P  I had bought the Olive one on an impulse, because it is green in colour, and I love the colour green. Also, I also liked the smell of olives that this shower gel has.
Apart from this, I love the new Peach shower Gel that they have introduced, and would surely be getting it the next time.

Coming down to the individual reviews:

Olive Shower Gel:
The TBS shower gel is an olive green shower gel. It has a mild smell of olives which don’t usually appeal to many. However, I really like the smell and hence, decided to give this a try. The consistency of the shower gel is good and pretty much like the other TBS shower gels: not runny, and not thick at all. Its just perfect. It makes up a good lather and the smell stays for some time after showering.

Sweet Lemon Shower Gel:
My favourite shower gel of the lot! This must be my 20th or 30th bottle :P As you can see, this is a new pack, I recently finished one and I am already ready with a new one. I make sure I am well stocked with this shower gel. This shower gel has a faint fragrance of lemons that I absolutely heart. It is pale yellow in colour, though it looks really bright in the bottle. It works up a good lather and is a perfect combo with the TBS bath lilies.

Quantity: 250ml.
Price: Rs.340/-

What do I love ‘bout TBS Shower Gels?
·         They smell great. There are about 8-10 variants in this range and they all smell heavenly. Also, the smell stays for an hour at least, after the shower.
·         They lather really well, so a little quantity works a long way. A single bottle lasts me approximately 2 months. (Uhm…I would like to point out that I use 2-3 shower gels alternately, but I use the TBS ones 4-5 times a week).
·         The consistency of the shower gel is good. They are not thick, nor runny. Just perfect!
·         They are soap-free. So, they don’t make your skin dry. (However, since I tend to have dry skim mostly, I usually apply lotion after taking a shower.)
·         They are not very expensive. Okay, now if you compare TBS and let’s say….LUX, then I can’t really argue, but considering that we are talking about TBS here, I find the price pretty decent.
·         I love the packaging. It’s super cute. The cap is strong. The bottle is pretty travel-friendly.

What do I hate ‘bout the TBS Shower Gels?
Hmmm….nothing really. Honestly, TBS bath products are great. I love the shower gels more than the Bath and Body Works one (talking about this Sweet Pea Shower gel that I tried…gosh…I smelt so sickeningly strong and sweet).

Do I recommend TBS Shower Gels? Well, I don’t think I have to answer that. Quickly go get yourself one. Also, don’t forget to get a Bath Lily (their loofas). They are weirdly soft!!

Love,

P.S: TBS is having a sale right now. This is the best time to stock up on the shower gels! OH, and now the TBS products have a new avatar!!!

Nail Paints Haul

My very first haul post (eeeee)…

I had always imagined that when I write my first haul post, it will be something huge, maybe a MAC haul or something from an international site or something that I bought with a voucher worth 5k…uhm, u get the point?! :P

But well, that is not the case today  :/  However, I am in love with everything I bought in this haul. Actually, this is not really one single haul, but multiple hauls over the past 1 week or so. And they are all nailpaints.

I am a nailpaint addict. If I spot a nail colour I like, I quickly pick it up. Funny thing about this haul is that each item costs Rs.50/- or less….!!!! :O B-) Yes! No jokes at all. Check out the pics (sorry, I have clicked far too many :/)

First up are these New U nail paints that I bought from there. They used to cost Rs.40/-, but now the prices have hiked to Rs.50/- You get them in many shades and I would like to purchase most of them. But for now, I picked up the following four shades: Light Pink, Candy, Green Apple and Twilight.

L-R: Twilight, Candy, Green Apple, Light Pink

Next are some nailpaints that I bought from this supermarket near my hostel. They are from a brand called Equate. You will never be able to guess how cheap they are! They cost 18 bucks each. Yes, Rs.18/- only. And though they aren't really that great, they are a steal for the quantity and colours that they offer.
Sadly the shades have no names, only numbers. I bought 9 shades.

the shiny ones
the matte ones

Finally, I bought nailpaints from Snapdeal. Now, snapdeal is one of my least favourite online shopping destintions. Mainly, because when they send their products, they send it individually. So, you buy 5 nailpaints from them, and they come individually. How irritating is that. I bought nailpaints from 2 brands that you get there: Nail Juice and Davis.

The Nail Juice nailpaints come in a variety of shades. They cost Rs.50/- each, and their colour pay-off is really great. I bought the shades Leaf Green, Plum, Pomegranate, White and Pink Glitter.

L-R: Pomegranate, Leaf Green, Pink Glitter, White, Plum

Davis nailpaints have recently been introduced there. They are not that great, They come in rather cheap looking bottles and take forever to dry. They cost Rs.35/-. I bought four shades from there: Starlet, Lavender Blush, Valley Flower and Happy Hour.

L-R:Starlet, Valley, Happy Hour, Lavender Blush

Well, that is all. Will do individual reviews on the nailpaints soon.

Here are some more random shots:

Please keep reading and do follow if you like the blog. Also, do let me know if you have any pointers for me so that I can improve the blog in any way.

Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil: Review and Swatches

Hey everyone,

Today I was in a rush to go to college, and I forgot to apply kohl, or anything else for the matter on my face. Well, I did not really face a big issue for not applying sunscreen or a lipbalm (with the rains and all), but I did have to hear numerous “Are you okay”s and “You look sleepy”s… All this because of not applying kajal on my eyes!! :|

So, basically in conclusion to the whole story, the thing is kohls have become such an important part of my daily routine that people (including fashion impaired guys) notice it when I don’t wear them. So, here I will be reviewing a kohl that I recently bought from Slassy.com.

Rimmel, till about a few months back were available only in a few international sites, but now you can get them  online as well as from counters in the malls in major cities. They sell great products at super-affordable prices! This kohl right here is one of those things from Rimmel that you can definitely buy.

The Rimmel London Soft Kohl  Eyeliner Pencil comes in 9 shades:
Jet Black
Stormy grey
Pure White
Sable Brown
Purple Passion
Denim Blue
Royal Blue
Jungle Green
Green Shimmer

I have with me the shade Jet Black
I dig black pencils and after reading a lot of positive reviews about this pencil, I decided to play safe and get the black one for myself.

(Click on the pics for larger images)

About the Pencil:
The pencil comes in a regular wooden pencil form with a firm cap. It is easy to sharpen the pencil. Now I know that most people don’t like the idea of a wooden pencil that needs sharpening due to product wastage, but honestly, I prefer them over retractable pencils. For me, Wooden pencils are always easier to apply, and especially so when you are in a hurry. These pencils have the same coloured body as their shade colour. Since mine is black, the body is also black with the shade name inscribed on the sides.

The Kohl is super soft, super creamy and a dream-to-apply on the eyes. It goes on smoothly, without a tug and gives an intense colour to the eyes. You can smudge the colour to create a smokey look with ease. The kohl goes on smoothly on the upper lid, as well as on the waterline.

(click on the pic for a larger image)

How long does it stay?
I wore this at 7.30am and took it off at 9pm. There was very little fading at the edges. With 2 swipes on the lid, the colour should stay put without any appreciable fading.
On the waterline, the kohl had slightly faded after 4 hours and needed another application. After about 6-7 hours, the colour on the waterline may smudge.

Quantity and Price:
The pencil contains 1.2g of product and costs only Rs.145/-  I know right, dirt cheap, considering the quality of the product.
(For reference, take Lakme Eyeconic. It has 0.35g of product. The length of both the pencils are same.)

Hmmm…I think I have covered everything you might need to know about the pencil. So, I will quickly summarize the pros and cons for you:

Pros:
- Jet black in colour, superb intensity when applied.
- Application is very easy- formula is soft and creamy. It glides on easily on the lids and waterline.
- It is weirdly inexpensive! Rs.145/- is hardly anything compared to what the pencil offers.
- It can be smudged, if required, for a smokey look.
- Safe for contact lens wearers.
- It is sort-of waterproof. As in, if you splash water on it and just dab on it, it doesn’t smudge. But if you splash water on it and try to rub your skin off with a cloth, the colour does vanish, eventually.
- Many colours to choose from. You can surely find your pick from any of the colours mentioned above.

Cons:
- Needs to be sharpened, product wastage, blah, blah, blah…..c’mon…for Rs.145/-, who cares if you waste a little product while sharpening?!
- I wish it stayed put on the waterline a bit longer, but honestly, this is not something I will really complain about.

Swatches:

Will I repurchase this product again?
Hell yeah…as soon as it gets over. As well as some of the other shades (Pure white, Jungle green, Denim blue).

My Suggestions for You:
This pencil is a steal. You should definitely give it a try.

Try these shades:
- Jungle Green: it’s a pretty dark green colour. This is the colour that I will pick up next from this range.
- Purple Passion: it is dupe of Colobar Prunella. Yes, it really is. So, if you have been thinking of getting prunella but not willing to spend much, try this one. (P.S.: I loooove Colobar i-glide pencils. Purple Passion is definitely a dupe of Prunella, but Colorbar pencils are a class apart, and I will always remain loyal to them :P).
- Denim Blue: It is a dark blue, that will look pretty on all skintones.
- Pure White and Jet Black: because black pencils are must-haves for every girl and White pencils are a craze now, with the whole make-your-eyes-look-larger-with-white-pencils anthem.
I did not suggest the other pencils because you will find similar dupes in other better brands. And those color don’t really suit everyone. The ones mentioned above do! To check for swatches, just Google them and you will find almost every other blog with a post on these pencils.

My Rating: 5/5

Here are some looks that I tried with the kohl :D :

(please note that I have only applied the kohl, no other eye or skin products)

Hope this post was helpful. Do give these pencils a try.

And please please follow me, and I would love to follow you back.

Thanks,
